Borna Bošnjak celebrates 80 years of Moomin, and Stepan Sarpaneva produces a third tribute and drags the shooting star. His unique style is rendered in a hand-drawn room set in a signature 42mm steel case. Featuring a modified SOPROD A10, it is a limited edition of 30 pieces per dial color, with prices starting at 13,500 euros.
Gather on a blanket, roar new rounds in delicious soup, and find four ghostly white Moomins. The trees in the darkness surrounding them will burn with the light of the shooting stars above. That’s the point of what I found on Stepan Salpaneva’s latest Moomin collaboration dial. Simply named the Sarpaneva Moomin 80, the watch is the third in the series, but it further covers the depiction of literature by integrating the complexity of the shooter star of drag time.
Like Sarpaneva’s recent case, the handmade dial is where it has a true artistry. The dial consists of three pieces, including a skeletonized shooting star disc. Sarpaneva’s signature handset has been reduced to one minute’s hand, which revolutionizes dialing once an hour, but without a clear minute track, time suggests its time, as it is not the most accurate time-consuming element I’m doing it.

But if that’s not the reason to buy this watch, is it now? These are 10 different colors of Super Luminova hand-drawn to bring the Moomin scene back to life with the glorious Rumet. Also, there are subtle variations between the two watches, but both lighten up just as well after they get dark. However, if you put the light back, you will notice the difference. If you’re not keen on having a colorful Moomin forest on your wrists all the time, Salpaneva offers Moomin 80 in the monochrome version as well. Also, if you choose a less noticeable dial, your attention may drift into the case.
Again in classic salpaneva style, with a general shape of roundness, but many protrusions landing on almost brutal territory. Finnish brand Sarpaneva proudly states that in this case it uses Finnish steel from Outokumpu. Supra 316L/4435 alloy boasts higher chromium, molybdenum and nickel content to improve corrosion resistance. With a diameter of 42mm, Sarpaneva was clearly deciding to use the largest canvas possible, but the thickness of the lug-to-lug, only 11.4mm and 46mm, is compact enough to suit a variety of wrists.
Stepan Sarpaneva’s complex tasks are usually centered around making the most of Moonphase (Sarpaneva Moon stares at your soul), and Moomin 80 has changed to show time on a spinning disk We chose the Soprod A10 caliber that was used. It is an alternative to Uber and the popular ETA 2824 and Sellita SW-200 family, defeating it at 4Hz and boasting a 42-hour power reserve. But just like the dial, the movement pays special attention to finishing. That is, via a custom skeletonized rotor. Not only does it survive the Sarpaneva Moon Phase, it is also filled with Lume. Please take a closer look. You can see that you’ve been staring at you ever since your blue eyes and lips disappeared.
You’ll equip the Sarpaneva Moomin 80 with leather straps in various colors and you could match anything that’s going on with the dial, but even if you add 2,500 euros to the price, you’ll still opt for the optional Moonbridge bracelet. The exterior is very unique and beautifully integrated into the case design. If you are using a design like the Salpaneva, you may be completely committed.
