Welcome to Fratello Talks. It’s a time of tough love! Today, Nacho, Rex and Darn talk about a handful of watch brands with potential unearthed events. These are big names in the world of watches that they deeply respect and admire, but feel they don’t currently offer the full extent of their abilities. This relates to the brand’s history and heritage, its technical expertise, or the aspects of watchmaking that the brand has been delayed. Some of it may sound harsh, but it’s all well-intentioned feedback. These are the brands they support to get better and what they know can be really good with some finesse and adjustments. But it’s time to check the wrist before we get into it!
Wrist check
Rex begins his list check with his matching denim straps in his trusty Momotaro edition of Oris Divers 65. He doesn’t wear the jeans of today, but that’s a shirt that we’ve been caught more off guard. This Filson Flannel is certainly not for faint hearted people. But it is also a subtle match between the bronze of the watch and the aged lume accent. It is called the next level of watch styling movement.
It’s somewhere 5:00, and Darn knows it! That’s why he enjoys a charming and refreshing cocktail for the wrist, the new studio Underd0g x Fears Collaboration, The Gimlet. The two British brands mixed together fun drinks and filled them with 02 series sapphire dials from Studio Underd0G, fearing the Brunswick 38mm case. The result is a Leumet-style clock drink that quenches this thirst. If you want to read all about it, you can do so here.
And lastly, certainly, Nacho is sketchy in his beloved Breitling Aerospace. After a long absence, he has access to the clock again, and he is passing through them. The latest in the phone reunion has been in this incredible analog digital do it watch since the early 2000s. And judging by the fact that it was on his wrist all week, it seems we’re waiting for a while for the next one.
Fratello Talks: See potentially undeveloped brands
This episode of Fratello Talks is exactly what the label says. This may be surprising, but it’s a discussion of brands that we feel are leaving a lot on the table. It won’t go into too much detail here, so if you want to know more, you’ll need to tune it, but here it’s long and lacking. The brand they love but feel is shorter. This episode highlights why this is true and suggests how these brands can achieve greatness. It’s all about undeveloped possibilities.
I’d like to hear what you think about this topic. What watch brands do you feel have a lot of potential, but aren’t there much in their sweet spot? Please drop your take in the comments section below.
