Perhaps one of the most talked-about watches of last year was the eye-catching Tudor Black Bay Chrono Pink, which was released in March. Now Tudor has followed suit and tried to brighten up January with something called ‘Flamingo Blue’.
The release of this watch followed a similar pattern to Pink, with the watch appearing on the wrists of many Tudor ambassadors before any official communication took place or even before it was uploaded to the website. This is now becoming more and more of a trend in the industry, with keen observers trying to spot what’s new in watches.
The Tiffany-tone timer was first worn on the wrist of Taiwanese singer-songwriter and actor Jay Chou, and was later seen worn by the most famous Tudor ambassador, David Beckham. Everyone expected it to happen.
There’s really only one change that’s happened here, and that’s the obvious one. The “Flamingo Blue” dial seemed to pair perfectly with the bright pink. Although the name may seem a bit strange and I don’t remember seeing any blue flamingos on my travels, I can’t deny the color. “’ve go for (strong hints of Tiffany)” is certainly attracting attention. The brand claims that the flamingo looks like a reflection of the water on the watch back home, but we think pink could be a great option for his and hers. Or if the standard blue Black Bay Chrono wasn’t bright enough, this might be the answer.
This watch will be sold in the same way as last year’s pink version, making it very difficult to obtain, so a similar phenomenon to what we witnessed in the middle of last year could occur in secondary prices. But only time will tell if this tried-and-true hype color proves to be as popular as its pink big brother.
Everything else about this watch is the same, with luminous markers applied and a black aluminum bezel insert flowing from the MT5813. Like the other Black Bay Chrono colors, it comes with a Tudor five-link bracelet with T-Fit micro-adjustment inside the folding clasp.
