The Buffy Acacia, Doxa’s first green dial, is now a standard option on the company’s flagship diver’s watches. The six collections in which the Sea Emerald is available are the SUB 200, 300, 300T, 600T and 300 Carbon. It is only available in a sunburst finish, adding a touch of luxury.
Color has been one of Doxa’s mainstays since the late 1960s. The Doxa SUB 300T was a big hit among both professional and recreational divers.Of course, the Professional Orange dial is the quintessential Doxa color, but Diving Star Yellow and Sea Arambler Silver are equally beloved in vintage models. The craziest thing is that Doxa has never released a watch with a green dial until 2024. Thankfully, that has changed with the introduction of the Sea Emerald dial. Most of Doxa’s product lines are currently sold at the Time+Tide Shop..
Green dials have become mainstream over the last four or so years, but that doesn’t mean there weren’t any green watches before 2020. That’s why it’s surprising that Doxa has never dabbled in green, even as a limited edition. The new Sea Emerald stands out from other classic colors like the Professional, Diving Star, and Aquamarine, and is the first color to be offered exclusively in a sunburst finish. Now, rather than competing with the flat, pop-art appeal of the rest, it’s a more contemporary take on the color. Sea Emerald has reached the same level of sophistication Introducing the silver Sea Rambler, this shade of green was inspired by a specific region of the ocean, but its shimmering appearance makes it only fitting that it was named after the precious gemstone.
Despite the grandeur of its brushed texture, the Sea Emerald dial fits well with Doxa’s range of heavy duty sports watches. Indeed, especially on the timeless Doxa SUB 300T, where the green is complemented by gold hands and indexes, making it look rather premium. The SUB 200 exudes 60s refined grandeur and easily pulls off the Sea Emerald. The blocky feel of the 80’s 600T Taking a more contemporary direction, the SUB 300 Carbon is even bolder, with silver highlights that stand out even more against the smoky marble grey background of the entire case.
The full lineup of Sea Emerald dials includes the SUB 200, 300, 300T, 600T, and 300 Carbon, indicating that this will continue to be a staple in Doxa’s future releases. No announcement has been made about the chronograph watches, but they have generally not received much attention since their release. The price will remain the same as the other dial variations, and there is no limit to production at all. It will be interesting to see if green marks the end of Doxa’s broad palette. Perhaps we will see some different green tones. Or textures to be woven into future limited editions..
