For those who have not yet gone on vacation and are still wondering which watch to take with them, this might be a very interesting article. Introducing the Crafter Bleu Bon Voyage Macaron Super Chrono. If you ask me, this watch will make you feel good immediately. And it gets even better when you know more about this Super Chrono.
Even before I knew the exact name of the watch, I was fascinated by the look of the Crafter Bleu Bon Voyage Macaron Super Chrono (BVSS002.M). I am drawn to the combination of light blue and beige. However, the color combination should be used in small doses. The granular, very dark blue dial background with one beige and one light blue sub-dial is the secret to the success of this watch. Who knew? The Crafter Bleu folks did. But what about a name with the word “macaron” in it?
Crafter Blue Bon Voyage Macaron Super Chrono, perfect for vacations
According to the Oxford English Dictionary, a macaron is “a small round cake with a meringue-like texture made of egg whites, sugar and ground almonds, consisting of two halves sandwiching a creamy filling.” I knew that, but I needed to check. The name of the watch made me think that “macaron” might have another meaning as well. But after extensive research, I found out that macaron is just a macaroon and nothing more. Well, that’s about the Crafter Blue watch.
According to Crafter Blue, the Macaron Super Chrono comes in a “mesmerizing macaron color scheme.” When conceiving the watch, the designers must have had in mind a chewy cookie with a pale blueberry top, a deep blackberry bottom, and a sweet beige almond filling.
Is it as gentle on the wrist as it looks?
The Macaron Super Chrono is based on a 316L steel case with a diameter of 42mm, length of 51mm and thickness of 13.4mm. The beautifully curved case with polished and brushed surfaces has a lug spacing of 20mm. More importantly, it has a screw-down crown, screw-down case back and is water resistant to 100m. This is important information to determine whether this Crafter Blue is the perfect holiday watch for you.
The watch features a domed sapphire crystal over a textured navy dial with beige Arabic numerals and graduations, white stick hands filled with Old Radium Super-LumiNova and a date window at 6 o’clock with a cream beige outline. A matching beige subdial at 3 o’clock indicates 24-hour time, while a baby blue subdial at 9 o’clock counts elapsed chronograph time down to the hour. Surrounding all of this is a steel bidirectional 12-hour bezel.
Mecha-Quartz Travel Watch
While the origins of the name “Macaron” for this Crafter Blue Chronograph are shrouded in mystery, the origins of “Bon Voyage” are. Its aesthetic is reminiscent of vintage pilot watches and travel. Pilots often fly with people who go on vacation. So what do people say when they wish others a wonderful vacation? Yes, “Bon Voyage.”

The Macaron Super Chrono is equipped with a reliable and accurate Seiko VK64 Mecha-Quartz caliber. Good news for those who are allergic to quartz vibrations. The Macaron does not have a seconds hand. The movement’s hybrid mechanical chronograph construction allows the chronograph seconds hand to move smoothly and mechanically when the pump pusher is operated. This caliber also allows the hand to be reset instantly.
Take a macaron and eat it
For many people, the price of a watch is the determining factor in whether it is a suitable vacation watch. Looks, functionality, and versatility are often less important. So, without further ado, here is the price of the Crafter Blue Bon Voyage Macaron Super Chrono. It is priced at $255, which is $20 less than a bio-ceramic quartz chronograph. This “plastic” watch may come in your favorite Macaron color, but it is less water resistant and does not come with a genuine Italian leather strap like the Crafter Blue steel Macaron.
Speaking of straps, leather isn’t suitable for a warm summer vacation with lots of water activities. Luckily, the straps come with quick release spring bars, and it’s easy to find more water-resistant 20mm straps. Plus, picking the strap yourself makes your watch even more unique. Take a look at my Instagram to see the straps I put on my watches to perfectly match my vacation.
To answer the question posed in the headline, the Crafter Blue Bon Voyage Macaron Super Chrono is certainly a holiday bargain not to be missed, including the price, and of course, the “flavor” has to suit your taste, but in the case of this Crafter Blue, I think you could have the macaron and eat it too.
