Tucked away in a back alley, Melbourne’s Robot Bar hosted the launch of the Tissot PRX UFO Robot Grendizer – the perfect setting for a launch, given Robot Bar’s Tuesday anime show. Jamie and I had the pleasure of mingling with a crowd made up of watch and anime enthusiasts (Jamie also acted as the host for the evening). As is usual with T+T crowds, the topics of discussion tend to be quite broad, and not limited to just those.
Now, back to the main topic! Not only do we have the first PRX Grendizer review, but we also have an exclusive interview with Tissot CEO Sylvain Dorrat, who was the driving force behind this collaboration and was a fan of the Grendizer anime as a child.
Naturally, attendees were also able to experience the watch first-hand. To avoid overshadowing the luminous dial, the showcase area was equipped with UV lighting, which not only highlighted the luminous but also highlighted the white highlights of Grendizer’s spacer vehicle. It also highlighted even the most subtle luminous plots, providing the perfect opportunity to photograph it on your wrist.

It was a pleasure to work with Tissot on the launch of this watch. Enjoy your weekend!

Check out this week’s meme: Who is the CEO of the coolest brand?
Late last night, news broke that Chanel had bought a 25% stake in MB&F. The French luxury house is no stranger to this news, having already invested in FP Journe, Romain Gauthier and Bell & Ross. Obviously, the news spread fast enough for meme pages to jump on it, but not fast enough to get Max Büsser out of the loop…
Wrist Shot of the Week: Baume & Mercier Shogun

Don’t worry, your screen is showing it correctly. This is a quirky watch that Baume & Mercier made in the 1990s. This two-tone quartz quirk was designed by Jean-Claude Guy, whose penchant for opulence was passed down to his son Emmanuel, who went on to design a number of watches, including the Royal Oak Offshore.
Time+Tide Shop Pick of the Week: Nivada Grenchen F77 Meteorite
You wouldn’t necessarily expect Nivada Grenchen to release a titanium watch with a meteorite dial, but the brand, which draws heavily on vintage inspiration for its new releases, has managed to wrap the F77 Meteorite in that sweet ’70s vibe. Despite the drastic change in finish, the case has a unique softness to it, and the dial pattern is as spectacular as you’d expect from a space rock.
Check out the Nivada Grenchen F77 Meteorite at the Time+Tide Shop, online or at the Melbourne Discovery Studios. Price: US$1,985 (Titanium bracelet)

“I want to show women that wearing a big watch on their wrist is actually a very nice thing” – Ada Hegerberg, first-ever winner of the Ballon d’Or Feminine
In the third episode of the Watches And podcast, Andrew speaks to Norwegian soccer superstar Ada Hegerberg. In addition to the aforementioned Ballon d’Or Feminine, she’s also won the Champions League six times and has a host of individual accolades under her belt. Someone like that is bound to have an interesting story to tell, and thankfully it involves watches.
